Giovanni "Gio" Ponti (1891 - 1979) was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture designer, artist, teacher, writer and publisher, generally considered one of the most influential designers of the 20th Century. In a career spanning six decades, he built over 100 buildings around the world and designed numerous collections of decorative objects and furniture.
